Membership is drawn mostly from the north of the county but we have members from throughout Devon who have the opportunity to take part in club rides, touring, time trials, road racing, track racing, sportives, cyclo-cross, mountain biking and charity events. We have varying club rides that take place throughout the year allowing cycling to become a regular habit for health, fun and fitness.

In keeping with our commitment to offer members the best, we achieved British Cycling’s highest standard for clubs and have been awarded Sport England’s Clubmark status. This is a cross-sport quality accreditation for clubs with junior sections.

We are also affiliated to British Cycling and the CTT (The National Governing Body For Cycling Time Trials).

As an accredited British Cycling Go Ride Club Taw Velo helps to provide a fun and safe way to introduce young riders to the world of cycle sport and a platform to improve bike handling skills.

It isn’t just about racing, its about making cycling accessible and enjoyable for everyone in the community.

Group Rides

Go-Ride_Full_Colour_sRGB.png

Riding a bike is at the heart of any cycle club; at Taw Velo we are no different and we have several organised rides that run on different days of the week.  Whether you are a newbie just starting out on group rides or someone wanting high tempo race training, there will be something to suit your ability. These are predominantly road rides but the club also has frequent cyclocross and MTB rides throughout the year. To find out more, visit our Group Riding page..

Training

During the winter months, indoor roller sessions replace some of the Group rides, though the more hardy among us do tend to ride through the winter. You can also find Taw Velo riders riding on Zwift and who will be happy to have a virtual ride with you from the comfort of your personal pain cave

Trips and Social events

There are various social events planned each year, including a summer BBQ and awards evening in the winter. These are for all members, not just the racers. Social mid week rides and more formal trips include visits to the velodrome, rider organised trips to ride the mountains or Belgian cobbles or trips to watch track racing at Newport and Lee valley velodromes. Many riders choose to tackle different sportives across the country as a group.
